On November 4, 2021, Ms Aiyun Li, a distinguished expert English teacher from Nanjing Foreign Languages School, gave us a lecture on “How to Present a Teaching Plan” in the auditorium(Xuehai 111) on Nanjing Normal University Xianlin Campus (NNU). More than 200 NNU teachers and students attended the lecture.
The lecture is one of the I-L-Link forum (Jingling Forum) series organized by the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures and the Yangtze River Delta Research Center for K-12 Foreign Language Education. I-L-Link forum series invites distinguished scholars and teachers to give lectures to students majoring in English Education. Professor Jianning Ding, director of the Center, hosted the lecture and made a welcome remark. Ms Qiqin Jiang, party secretary of the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, addressed Ms Li, an alumni of NNU, with heartfelt thanks for her support to the school.
Ms Aiyun Li shared her understanding of core competences in English teaching within the context of current curriculum transformation. She introduced the key elements in presenting a teaching plan with vivid and specific examples while interacting with the students in attendance throughout the lecture. Through the interactions, students gradually get a better understanding of the essence of English teaching target: to cultivate students’ core competences, namely language ability, cultural awareness, thinking skills and learning facilities.
The lecture broadened the students’ knowledge of English teaching, and enabled them to learn more about the latest frontier in English-teaching research, get up close with academic masters and appreciate the charm of teaching research.
